Expertise in Action: Refurbishing a Roof Valley with Frampton Roofing

The Frampton Roofing team recently undertook a meticulous project on one of the more challenging aspects of roofing—the valley. This key area, where two roof planes meet, is crucial for water run-off and demands expert attention to ensure it is watertight and durable.

Project Overview

The task was to completely refurbish an old, worn-out valley that had seen better days. Over time, roof valleys can become vulnerable points in the roofing structure, susceptible to leaks and water damage. Understanding the importance of this, we approached the job with our characteristic precision and commitment to quality.

The Process

The first step was to strip back the old material and prepare the base of the valley for the new installation. We used high-quality, Lloyd's approved resin to board the base. This choice of material isn't just about adhering to high standards—it's about ensuring longevity and performance. Our Lloyd's Approved Resin is renowned for its durability and resistance to weathering, which makes it an ideal choice for the challenging environment of a roof valley.

Once the base was prepared and secured, our skilled team meticulously shaped and fitted the new valley lining. This is a task that requires not just technical skill but a deep understanding of how roofing systems work, to ensure flawless water flow and no standing water issues.

Why It Matters

The valley of a roof is a critical area that handles a lot of water run-off, particularly during the rainy seasons. A poorly constructed or deteriorating valley can lead to significant issues, from minor leaks to major structural damage over time. By choosing Frampton Roofing, homeowners can rest assured that their roof valley will not only look great but will also stand up to the elements year after year.

Before and After

The transformation was significant. What was once a potential weak spot in the roof's defence against the weather is now one of the strongest and most reliable features. Our before and after photos, which we invite you to view on our website, clearly show the extent of change and the level of detail that goes into every Frampton Roofing project.

The team at Frampton Roofing recently completed a large-scale industrial roofing project at the Flambeau warehouse and manufacturing facility in Ramsgate . This enormous roof had seen years of wear and was in urgent need of attention to prevent further deterioration. From moss-choked valleys to cracked sheeting and overgrown drainage systems, this was a serious clean-up and repair mission—executed while keeping the busy site operational throughout. The Challenge Flambeau’s factory spans a huge footprint, with long, pitched valley roofs running the length of the site. Over time, the central valleys had become overrun with: 🟢 Thick moss and vegetation growth 💧 Standing water due to blocked or sagging drainage ⚠️ Cracked and damaged sheeting along the valley lines 🌧️ Increased risk of leaks and pooling during heavy rain The goal was to restore effective drainage, clear debris, and repair visible damage—ensuring the roof would perform safely over the winter months and beyond.
